TDTU facilitates connections with Czech universities and enterprises and Quang Ngai Province

On November 23 and 24, 2023, the delegation from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) and the delegation from enterprises and universities of the Czech Republic had a visit and working session in Quang Ngai province to exchange ideas on promoting investment, developing the labor market, and collaborating on educational development for the province.

The TDTU delegation included Dr. Tran Trong Dao - President, and some leaders of units in charge. The delegation from enterprises and universities of the Czech Republic included the Rectors, Presidential Boards, and leaders of some units from the Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO, Czech Republic) and Tomas Bata University (TBU, Czech Republic), along with the leadership of BR Group and FCCS Group s.r.o.

On the afternoon of November 23, 2023, welcoming and working with the delegations from Ton Duc Thang University and enterprises & universities of the Czech Republic were Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, and the representatives of relevant departments of Quang Ngai Province (Department of Science and Technology, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Finance, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, etc...) as well as local universities and colleges.

This visit and working session aim to implement Plan No. 01/KH-UBND-TDTU dated July 17, 2023, between the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee and TDTU regarding the implementation of the cooperation program between the province and the university for the period 2023 – 2027.

In his speech during the working session, Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan acknowledged the connections established by Ton Duc Thang University and the interest shown by two Czech universities (VSB-TUO and TBU), as well as BR Group and FCCS Group s.r.o., towards the province.

Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan provided the delegations with information about the potential and strengths of Quang Ngai province, as well as the province’s orientations and commitments to investors. He also expressed the hope that in the coming time, Quang Ngai province, TDTU, and the Czech Republic corporations will establish even closer connections through specific cooperation programs, with the aim of promoting activities such as investment and trade, supporting in training human resources, workers export, and providing scholarships.

At the working session, all parties engaged in discussions and exchanged ideas on promoting investment, developing the labor market, and collaborating on educational development and training.

During this visit, VSB-TUO and TBU will sign an MOU with Pham Van Dong University in Quang Ngai province to implement student and lecturer exchange programs, scientific research collaboration, and support in training high-quality human resources for the province through the collaborative Doctoral degree training program.

As part of the investment and trade promotion activities for the province, TDTU introduced and connected BR Group, FCCS Group, and two universities from the Czech Republic to explore policies in industrial zones and seaports of the province to promote trade and investment in the transportation industry and seaports via Dung Quat deep-water port. The parties considered the potential use of Dung Quat deep-water port for transshipment, import, and export of goods from Quang Ngai, Central provinces, and Vietnam to the European market and vice versa. BR Group also expressed interest in technology transfer and the production line for specialized packaging (in the fields of chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing) in the Vietnamese market.

In the field of human resource training, TDTU also connected and promoted labor training and supplying activities for industrial zones in Quang Ngai province. During the working session, the Management Board of Dung Quat Economic Zone and the provincial industrial zones signed an MOU with BR Group on training and supplying labor for the province. According to the plan, on November 24, VSB-TUO and TBU will have a working session and sign an MOU with Pham Van Dong University (Quang Ngai province) to implement the student and lecturer exchange programs, scientific research collaboration, and support in training high-quality human resources for the province through the collaborative Doctoral degree training program.

In addition to connecting and supporting stakeholders in the high-quality human resource training program for Quang Ngai province, TDTU is directly involved in promoting the program through its scholarship program. TDTU offers full scholarships (covering the entire duration of the program) for students from selected schools in Quang Ngai to study at VSB-TUO and TBU in the Czech Republic. Specifically, TDTU will provide six full scholarships for studying at VSB-TUO and TBU in the Czech Republic, with a total value of over 1.8 billion VND, starting from 2025 for students from high schools in Quang Ngai province.

At the working session, TDTU also provided information to the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee about its scholarship program for students in the province. In the academic year 2023-2024, TDTU granted a total of 50 scholarships valued at over 288 million VND to students.
